Senseless

All praise to Antares Autotune! This track was a boy-band parody (boy-bands being thick on the ground at the turn of the century) and we ended up having to invent a boy-band to fit it into the track listing of Northcote Country Soul – hence the creation of the Mornington Peninsula five-piece sensation 5 WAYZ and their omnipresent manager Enzo Palastri. It worked a treat as part of the show, and it’s still very, very wrong.
Senseless

Girl, I’ve been waiting to hold you
to dance together on a night like this
It’s like a dream, my arms enfold you
as I lose my mind inside your kiss
Girl, I love you so, never let you go, you’re the fire in my heart
And my love for you will last forevermore
And I feel so great, wanna celebrate your beauty and your soul
And I’ve gotta like my chances ‘cos you’re drunker than you’ve ever been before…

Now you’re drunk enough to make you defenceless
So you’re drunk enough to do what I want you to do
Let’s go and shag each other senseless
    You can barely stand
    Let me hold your hand
‘Cos I’m drunk enough to say that I’m in love

(spoken)
Girl, it ain’t no disrespect.. you know I’ve wanted you from the moment we first met…
but now we’re fifteen I think it’s time for us to take the next step,
and prove our love to each other.
And if you believe in me like I believe in you, you’ll understand me when I say
I’ve got half a dozen West Coast Coolers in the door of my parents’ fridge
And they’ve gone down to Rosebud for the weekend… Rosebud.

I could understand, be a gentleman, call a cab and get you home
Walk you to your door to make sure you’re OK
But I think I see opportunity knocking louder than my heart
And if you won’t remember, what’s the point of being noble anyway?

Now you’re drunk enough to make you defenceless
So you’re drunk enough to do what I want you to do
Let’s go and shag each other senseless
    You can barely stand
    Let me hold your hand
‘Cos I’m drunk enough to say that I’m in love.
